14 Nov Beaujolais Nouveau Day at Eliot & Vine
Mark your calendars, wine lovers – Beaujolais Nouveau Day is on November 17th. If you’re excited but not sure why, here’s the low-down on what this day is all about.
Beaujolais Nouveau is a special fresh and fruity red wine from the Beaujolais province of France. It’s production was initially just for the locals to drink and commemorate harvest season ending. Because it’s a red that’s meant to be drunk young, some wine producers in the region saw this as an opportunity to bring in immediate cash flow by deciding to sell it. So Beaujolais Nouveau Day was born and is celebrated on the third Thursday in November throughout France with music, fireworks and festivals. It caught on in North America in the 1980s and currently millions of bottles find their way to us every year!
So, Eliot & Vine is celebrating with other wine drinkers all over the world. Stop by on November 17th to try a glass (or more) of the 3 Beaujolais Nouveau that we are carrying; all of which still boast the light and fruity taste profiles the wine is known for!
